Hans Lehmann escaped the Nazis and became a highly respected member of the University of Washington School of Medicine faculty. He married Thelma Gertsman, a talented amateur artist, in 1942. Together they worked with, nurtured and enjoyed the Seattle art and music communities for the remainder of their lives. Kenneth Callahan, Milton Katims, Morris Graves, Richard Fuller, Robert Joffrey and Sir Thomas Beecham were among their close friends, along with countless others. This volume is required reading for anyone interested in the arts in Seattle in the last half of the 20th century.
