7.5" x 4.75". 337pp., plus 10pp. of ads. Brown cloth with gilt spine lettering. Corners and spine tips a little rubbed and worn, else VG+ condition. "Fanny" Kemble was a well known British stage actress when she married a plantation owner in Georgia. This journal is an important source for the condition of slaves at that time. Repulsed by the subjugation of black people, she published her journal after her divorce and it helped move English public opinion away from the South.
