Three forged engravings depicting images supposedly by Rockwell Kent, Franz Masareel and Eric Gill.
[No place]. Item #28249
All are signed in pencil on the bottom margin 'Sc. E.M. Washington'. The Gill is dated 1931, the Kent is dated 1934 and the Masareel is dated 1926. They are various sizes and shapes but all are on 12" x 9" sheets. Washington was a notorious forger who variously claimed that his great grandfather, Earl Mack Washington, created the engravings or that the grandfather had rescued the original blocks from a fire.
