Golden Goose Cafe. Smith Tower. Seattle, Washington.

circa 1950. Item #29443

Single illustrated sheet, folded once to form a 12" x 9.5" menu. Mild wrinkling, else near fine condition. The front cover depicts the facade of the Seattle restaurant in the ground floor of one of the city's most iconic buildings. The Golden Goose was owned and operated by Roy L. Peterson and his family, who also operated the Norselander and other restaurants in Seattle. Peterson Peterson was also a president of the Seattle Chapter of the National Restaurant Association and was on the board of the Washington State Restaurant Association. The Golden Goose was opened in 1947 and closed in 1972. After starting out as a diner, the cafe eventually added a cocktail lounge with floor shows and dancing. The extensive menu features dozens of dishes, including King Salmon for $.85, Louisiana prawns $1.20 and the unfortunately named Cannibal Sandwich for $.30. The rear cover features an exterior photos of the Smith Tower and an interior view of the building's Observation Tower.
