Planters Dock "Chow"

Oakland, California: (circa 1943). Item #30527

Single sheet, folded once to form a 9" x 6" menu. Fine condition. Nicely printed in green and red. Planters Dock was a general merchandise shop at the foot of Broadway in Oakland California during the 1940s. It had a small restaurant inside called "Chow". A la carte dishes were individually prepared and service was reportedly slow, but the menu is interesting. The bill of fare features mainly Chinese American dishes such as gong, bo lo gai, and foo young. If one didn't care for Chinese the menu also includes standard American dushes such as fried chicken, lamb chops, mountain trout, etc. The most expensive item on the menu is the war siew opp (the Planters Dock Duck) for $3.50.

Price: $35.00
